Close to My Heart March SOTM Blog Hop

Welcome to the March Stamp of the Month Blog Hop!

This month I am following {Michelle Stewart's Blog.}   We have over 60 Close to My Heart Consultants participating in this month’s Stamp of the Month Blog Hop.   If you lose your place while traveling through our blog hop, the complete list of participants can be found here.

The March Stamp of the Month is entitled Choose Happy (S1503) (Set of 14). Here is a picture of this stamp set:

Here is my card.

This stamp set has the cutest frames and so much fun to color in with our ShinHan markers.  The bear comes from the Nursery Charms My Acrylix Stamp Set.  In my mind, I saw this cute little bear looking out a window so I turned my frame into a window frame.  I grabbed my Scaredy Cat paper pack to use for my card.  That's right.  Halloween paper for a non-Halloween card.  I love how versatile our paper is.

The bear was just begging for a little love so out came the heart embossing folder.  There was room between the hearts  to stamp the sentiment.  The sentiments are so meaningful.  I hope to always choose happy!

Thank you for visiting my blog.  I would love for you to show me a little love by leaving me a comment and then please go to our next artist, {Melissa Robinson's Blog} and see what she has made with this adorable stamp set.

The Choose Happy Stamp Set can be purchased for $17.95 or if you purchase $50 in CTMH products, you can add this stamp set to your order for an additional $5.  This stamp set is only available between March 1 – March 31, 2015.
You can purchase this stamp set as well as any of the supplies listed below on my website.

Artfully Sent Series - Border Cards

Today I am featuring this super fast video that will give your more ideas on how to use the Close to My Heart Artfully Sent Cricut Cartridge.  If you don't own one, watching this may cause you to have to purchase one quickly.  These cards are stinkin' cute!

What I like about Border cards is that with a few patterned paper scraps, you have incredibly attractive 5 x 7 or 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch cards.  I am getting ready to fire my Cricut up right now to make that cute little fairy princess card.

I used the Border feature to make this card for my grandson.  It was very easy to make and so attractive and one of a kind.  He loved it!

By the way, the blue stars are actually our white stars colored with the Cerulean Blue ShinHan Marker.  I love that I don't need each color of embellishment, I can just take out my alcohol markers and color them.

Stampers with an Attitude Spotlights Seasonal Expressions 1

Welcome to the February Stampers with an Attitude Spotlights Seasonal Expressions 1 Blog Hop.  This month I am following  {Belinda McLane.}  Who is the Stampers with an Attitude?  It is the Close to My Heart team lead by my fabulous upline, Kimberly Moss.

Our blog hop is a circular hop.  You just click on the link to the next blog at the bottom of this post and go visit the next blog.  If you get lost, I have all of the participating blogs listed at the bottom of my post.  Hope you enjoy seeing what our team has made for you.

March 31st is the last day to order from our Seasonal Expressions 1 Mini Catalog.  Stampers with an Attitude wanted to spotlight the products from this catalog while you can still order them.  Look at the cute cover photo on this catalog.

I have decided to spotlight one of the paper packs from this catalog called Heartstrings.  Here is my card.

I also used the stamp set, Amour, found on page 12 of this catalog.  You will not be able to order Heartstrings after March 31st while Amour will continue on for the next year.

Heartstrings is a beautiful paper pack.  I love the color combination of Cranberry, Whisper, Hollyhock and Lagoon.  To frame the paper on my card, I pulled out some Kraft paper.

This paper pack has patterned paper that I love and patterned paper that I find harder to work with.  I absolutely love the book print patterned paper and I love to use it to stamp on.  When I use a patterned paper to stamp my main image on, I use a dark ink that gives me a vibrant image.  I can keep it simple because the book print adds interest and fills in the blank spots.

Now the roses are a bigger problem for me.  I love the roses and the colors but I am taking a large print and using it on a small card, but I don't want it to be all about the roses.  So what do I do?

What do I do?  I stamp some of the solid images over the roses and your eyes are pulled into the images and away from all of the roses.  Add a few sequins, ink distress the edges with Slate Ink and you have a sweet card that would work for Valentine's Day, an anniversary, or a wedding.

And the inside of the card says it all!

I want to thank you for visiting my blog.  The next very talented artist for you to visit on our blog hop is {Sheila Bennett}.

Spotlight on the Close to My Heart/Operation Smile You're the Bomb Blog Hop

Welcome to the Close to My Heart/Operation Smile
You're the Bomb Blog Hop

I am following {Melissa Robinson's Blog.}   We have 20 Close to My Heart Consultants participating in our Close to My Heart/Operation Smile You're the Bomb Blog Hop.   If you lose your place while traveling through our blog hop, the complete list of participants can be found here.

Thank you for hopping through our Blog Hop.  I hope that you get some great ideas on how to use this adorable stamp set.

This stamp set will be retiring on March 31st.  When you purchase this stamps set, Close to My Heart donates $3 to Operation Smile.  Who is Operation Smile?

Operation Smile's volunteer medical professionals travel around the world to treat children suffering from facial deformities. Their efforts mean new smiles for thousands of children. Operation Smile volunteers also build public and private partnerships that advocate for sustainable healthcare systems for children and families. You can learn more about Operation Smile on their website at operationsmile.org.

So, on to my cards.  I have been wanting to get my hands inky.  I love technique and it has been a while since I just played.  One of the techniques I have been wanting to try is the Bokeh technique.  So much fun!  Bokeh has been defined as "the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light".  It is a type of photography where there are lots of blurry circles of different colors.

Here are my cards.

I used watercolor paper for the main panel.  I also used an aquapainter, a paint brush with a water reservoir, used for water coloring.

First of all, I moistened the watercolor paper.  Then I picked my favorite color combinations.  I used Sunset, Cranberry, Cotton Candy, and Canary for the above card.  For the card below I used Glacier, Lagoon, Pacifica, and Thistle.

I took the reinkers for my chosen colors and mixed 10 drops of water to 3 drops of reinker.  Then, using my aquapainter, I worked with each color and "splotched" it onto the wet watercolor paper.  I kept adding splotches of the different colors until the entire paper is covered with color.  Then I let it dry.

After it was dry, I made circle stencils using my Art Philosophy cartridge and my Cricut Explore.  My circles were cut at 1 3/4", 1 1/4", and 1" in diameter.  I used a sponge dauber, White Daisy Pigment Ink, and my stencils.  I applied the pigment ink onto my card front in circles with the stencils.  There is not rule or real direction on how to do this.  Be sure and overlap the circles.

Then I put the stencils down and just using the sponge dauber, added some additional circles that were a little more "vibrant".

Then I stamped the sentiments using Black Archival Ink and added some silver sequins for pizazz!

Super simple and so much fun!
