The Close to My Heart August What a Hoot Stamp of the Month Blog Hop

Welcome to the August Stamp of the Month Blog Hop!

This month I am following {Adeline Brill's Blog.}   We have 67 Close to My Heart Consultants participating in this month’s Stamp of the Month Blog Hop.   If you lose your place while traveling through our blog hop, the complete list of participants can be found here.

The August Stamp of the Month is entitled What a Hoot  (S1408) (Set of 18). Here is a picture of this stamp set:

In addition to showcasing this super-adorable stamp set, I got to use some of our products from our new catalog, Annual Inspirations that goes live on August 1st.

This card was truly a joy to put together.  Despite the kids being off from school (fighting in the background) and the extra people in my house (my son's family is visiting from Guam), I was actually humming and singing as I found my happy place in making this card.  So, let me show you my card.

I used our new Halloween paper called Scaredy Cat.  Loving the purple, which is one of our new colors called Thistle.

To make the circle and the scallop around the circle, I pulled out my handy, dandy Cricut Explore and my Close to My Heart Art Philosophy cartridge and opened up Cricut Design Space on my computer.  I am going to show a short tutorial on my blog tomorrow so please come back and see.

I like to have a finished inside on my card.  I used our black pigment ink to stamp this cute sentiment and then colored it in with our new Marigold ShinHan alcohol markers.

I added some Purple Shimmer Tape at the bottom and then added one of the Zip Strips from the Scaredy cat paper pack matted with Black cardstock.

And the star of the card is my sweet little owl.  He is stamped and fussy cut with various patterned paper from the Scaredy Cat paper pack.  Don't you just love him?  It was like putting together paper dolls, cutting and moving around different combinations of patterned paper.  I love the creative process!

The pumpkin in his hat is colored with Marigold, Light Orange and Golden Yellow ShinHan markers.  I start off with my darker color and add shading wherever I want it.  Then I went in with the Light Orange over all of the pumpkin.  While it is still wet, I added the Golden Yellow over all of the pumpkin and then went back in with the Marigold to make the shading a little more pronounced.

With the ShinHan markers, remember that you can keep adding color until you like what you have.  Using more than one color will give you dimension.  They mix well while they are wet, and you can always go back in and add more color.  Don't be afraid to play with them.  They are so much fun!

I absolutely could not resist adding googly eyes to my sentiment!

My final touch was the addition of the new CTMH Silver sequins for his eyes.  They fit perfectly!
