The December Stamp of the Month is entitled Cutie Pie (S1412) (Set of 11). Here is a picture of this stamp set:
I am so excited by this stamp set. Who doesn't love cupcakes? My best friend is a cake decorator and this card has her name all over it. Her birthday is coming up in December and she has proven herself to be card worthy. Me and my peeps refer to someone who handles our artwork with reverence and would never EVER consider depositing one of our cards into the garbage as card worthy. My friend keeps my card to decorate her desk at work. Truly card worthy! Here is her birthday card.
I started working on this card last night. Yep, I thrive on the thrill of a fast approaching deadline. Winter has just started and I am already looking forward to Spring. So I picked the bright, Springlike colors of our new paper pack called Heartstrings, which you can purchase from our new Seasonal Expressions 1 Catalog on December 1st.
I wanted to fully use the stamp set, so the first thing I did was to use the word stamps to stamp around the edge of the Cranberry cardstock using Black pigment ink. Pigment ink gives you a more vibrant look than dye ink and I wanted the words to stand out.
I am loving the Heartstrings paper pack. I love the book print patterned paper in it as well as all of the vibrant colors. I stamped the cake stand right on the patterned paper and colored it with the ShinHan Twin Markers in the two shades of grey that we carry. Then I went over the greys with our Colorless Blender to blend the greys together and it gave the cake stand the look of glass. Isn't it wonderful when something works even better than you expected it to?
For the cupcake frosting, I couldn't blend the reds and pinks the way I normally do because it kept bleeding into the paper. So I adapted and colored first with the Tender Pink and then let it dry a few minutes. Then I added the Carmine marker to the top of the Pink. Adding markers on top of each other changes the color and gives you additional colors. I did that with the chocolate cupcake as well when I colored first with Clay and then added Mahogany. Now that is a perfect chocolate cupcake!
See the sprinkles in the frosting? That came from "dotting" the colorless blender randomly over the frosting. It removes a little of the color and adds a pattern.
The inside of the card is stamped as well. I added a few hearts cut from the patterned paper and a strip of a different patterned paper to the side.
Thank you for visiting my blog. I would love for you to show me a little love by leaving me a comment and then please go to our next artist, {Sheila Bennett's Blog} and see what she has made with this adorable stamp set.
