Thriller! The Close to My Heart September Stamp of the Month Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Close to My Heart September Stamp of the Month Blog Hop!  We are featuring the September Stamp of the Month, Thriller, a set of 9 stamps, that is only available during the month of September and let me be the first one to tell you that it is a hip and cool stamp set.

If you have arrived from Adeline Brill's Blog you are on the right path.  This month we have over 65 Close to My Heart Consultants sharing their creations using the September Stamp of the Month and other great Close to My Heart products on their blogs.  Following the Blog Hop is simple to do - just click on the link at the end of the post on each blog to move to the next one.  So, here we go!

When I saw this stamp set I just knew the card I wanted to make.  I wanted a pirate feel to it.  I used our new Hooligans My Reflections Paper Pack.  Love the purple!

There are a lot of different techniques on this card.  I used pad to paper inking on the edges, making it grungy looking.  The skull is double embossed.  I used Desert Sand Paper (Yes that IS Desert Sand!)  I stamped the skull stamp with Versamark and Desert Sand Ink and then stamped it a second time with Versamark and Black Ink and then using clear embossing powder, embossed both images.  I offset the Black stamp so that it would give it a 3-D effect.

I felt like the image still was too blah and then discovered Tresa Black's utterly fantastic Bleach technique video.  I was one happy camper as I ran to my laundry room and got me a little bleach.  First I brayered Gypsy Ink (One of our new colors) all over the Desert Sand Card Stock.  Don't ask me why I chose Gypsy because since it is purple that is a really strange choice!  With the Bleach Technique, you are supposed to brayer an ink onto cardstock and then "paint" bleach over the part that you want the original cardstock color to show through.  I wasn't actually considering using Desert Sand.  I was just playing.  But when I painted the bleach onto the skull it turned green!  It is an almost glow in the dark green.  Very SPOOKY!  The heart and words are stamped in Sunset (also one of our new colors)  and I finished it off with some of our new Opaque Pearls. This card is a Gatefold Card and I just love the look.

Now for the inside of the card!

When I saw this image, I saw the Zindorf Technique.  I think that it looks really sharp and I love the shock value of the extreme color.  The pumpkin and the Vampire are painted with my Blending Pen and Ink pads and then I covered them with my Versamark pen and clear embossing powder to protect their color when I brayered the background in.

Now check out the inside of the Vampire Card!

Don't you just love this stamp as well?  This is one of my favorite Halloween stamps so far this season.  The inside card reminds me of the Joy Fold card where you have a smaller card inside a larger card.  This card was just too fun to make!  Hope you like it.

  1. OMG - what a fun card. When I first saw the skull, I thought metal - yes, metal - it looks as if it's embossed in metal and the bleached section is enamel....going to have to try this and add Liquid Glass to the skull to see if I can get a real enamel look. Thanks for the inspiration!
