Join us twice a month as we CASE, “Copy And Selectively Edit”, artwork created by the Art Department of Close To My Heart as showcased in the current Idea Books and our Make It From Your Heart How-To Books.
On the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month, at 7 pm CST, we will direct you towards a piece of art and recreate it using the exact products or others that compliment its initial design. Tips, techniques and assembly directions will be shared in detail to help you recreate them on your own.
As you reproduce the items we have shared, post them on social media using the hashtag #ctmhinanycase. We will randomly search that hashtag and reward those who CASE our items. Winners will be announced on our blogs so be sure to follow us!

In Any Case with .......... Melinda
and Melissa
This week I am recreating (and sharing all of the details) for the "Thanks" card found on page 8 of the brand new, just released Seasonal Expressions 1 Idea Book. Don't have a copy of our new catalog? You will receive one free with your first order placed on my website or you can see it here online, or let me know you want one and I will be happy to drop one in the mail to you.
After you check out my sweet card, head on over to my Partner in CASEing, Melissa Robinson, and check out how to make her very elegant gold heart card. Here is my version of the Thanks card.
had plans to do some of the cutting for the card using my Cricut Explore. However, Design Space was being bad so I had to make some changes. The heart is cut from White Daisy Cardstock (1385) with the Thin Cuts - Basic Heart (Z3317). I used the Chelsea Gardens - Cardmaking Stamp Set (C1709) to stamp out the beautiful "thanks" using Archival Black Ink (Z3271). I very shakily drew around my heart using my Marvy Uchida Le Pen Journaling Pen (Z1979)
I used a variety of different paper packs. The base piece is from the Basics Fundamentals paper pack (Z3353). The next piece is our Vellum (Z3367). Then I attached the fern pattern from Chelsea Gardens paper pack (X7230B) to the vellum using my regular adhesive.
Tip: Do not attach the base piece to the White Daisy card back until you have finished building the card front. This allows you to easily attach the ribbon. Attach the fern piece to the vellum before you attach the vellum to the base paper. Then turn the vellum piece to the backside and add adhesive directly behind the fern piece to hide your adhesive.
The pretty thistle flowered patterned paper found in our Whimsy Fundamentals paper pack (Z3350) was cut using the Cricut Artbooking Collection (Z3169) (pg. 59 #M3D2BA) at 3 inches and popped the using Thin 3D Foam Tape (Z2060).
Tip: Did you know that in Cricut Design Space you can type in the image number like the one I listed above and the image will pop up?
Adhere the small rectangular piece of Linen Cardstock (X5946) to the slightly larger rectangular piece of Black Cardstock (1386) and then pop it up as shown using our new 3D Foam dots (Z3342). Cut our Silver Foil paper (Z3366) with our Thin Cuts - Scallop Border (Z3348) and adhere it to the Black and Linen cardstock piece. Now you will add the Thistle Ribbon from our Whimsy Ribbon Collection (Z3361) and our White and Gold Twine (Z4014).
Tip: Apply tape to the sides of the back of the card base where the ribbon and twine will touch. Cut only enough ribbon to attach to the tape in the back and attach the twine below it and wrap around the card twice and adhere to the opposite backside of the card. This saves on twine and ribbon. Don't worry about the twine bow yet.
Now you can adhere the card base to the White Daisy card front. We are almost done! Cut a tag from Pebble Cardstock (X5955) using our Thin Cuts - Basic Tags (Z3344) and add the cute dark gray heart from the Better Together Complements (Z3357).
Tip: When Design Space is working, I will cut this heart out of Pewter Cardstock.
The final touch are the black dots from the Black and White Dots (Z3314), tie a bow and adhere it above the tag using our Micro Glue Dots (Z2089).
Here's the card diagram.
