Hope this blog post finds you well and recovering from the Holidays. I am more rested than I was before December and am super excited about the release of our new Seasonal Expressions 1 Idea Book.
Yes, Close to My Heart is celebrating our 35th year in business. What an incredible accomplishment! If you would like to get one of these gems in your hand, please let me know and I will send one your way. You won't be disappointed. The artwork is superb and the products are very high quality.
So, let me tell you how much I love the Card Captions Stamp of the Month. Who doesn't need a stamp that can be used for all types of cards. This will be my go to sentiment stamp set.
I was talking to a friend yesterday and she remarked how lately she was needing more sympathy cards. She said that she doesn't like to think about needing them but when she does, that is the last thing she wants to make. Card Captions has two Sympathy sentiments and I used one on this card.
I found a variation of this card on Pinterest. This card design is called The Double Z Joy Fold Card. The card I saw resulted in a square card. I try to avoid square cards if possible because of the extra postage needed. My card is 4 ¼“ x 5 ½“ and will fit in one of the envelopes from our White Card and Envelope Value Pack (X254).
For the base of both the larger card and the smaller card that fits on top I have used the light side of our New England Ivy Cardstock (X6011). The patterned paper is from our new Feels Like Home paper pack (X7243B).
The stamped flowers are from the new stamp set, Know That I Care (C1752). This is a cool stamp set because it adds color to your stamped images.
The good thing is that the stamped color does not fit evenly in the stamped outline image. Why is this good? Because if you make a mistake, no one knows! It is meant to have a watercolor look. I stamped the outline image first in Charcoal Ink (Z2831) and then I stamped Sugarplum Ink (Z6500) to add the flower color. The leaves were actually watercolored with Fern Ink (Z2850) and our Small Round Waterbrush (Z3244). I made a point of not touching the Charcoal stamped image because it is not waterproof.
The sentiments are stamped using Intense Black Ink (Z4189). The second sentiment comes from the stamp set, Quilt Quotes (B1650).
I finished off the card with Silver Glitter Gems (Z4191).
Here are the measurements for the card.

- Adhere pattern papers as shown.
- Stamp the Mink cardstock panels and adhere.
- Now to adhere the smaller piece onto the large piece. Fold smaller card base and adhere to the center of the back of the larger card base.
- Fold the larger card base and overlap the front of the smaller card base over the front of the larger card base. Apply adhesive on the half of the front of the smaller card front that will be attached to the front of the larger card base. (I hope that makes sense).
