In Any Case ... with Melinda and Melissa

Join us twice a month as we CASE, “Copy And Selectively Edit”, artwork created by the Art Department of Close To My Heart as showcased in the current Idea Books and our Make It From Your Heart How-To Books.
On the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month, at 7 pm CT, we will direct you towards a piece of art and recreate it using the exact products or others that compliment its initial design. Tips, techniques and assembly directions will be shared in detail to help you recreate them on your own.
As you reproduce the items we have shared, post them on social media using the hashtag #ctmhinanycase. We will randomly search that hashtag and reward those who CASE our items. Winners will be announced on our blogs so be sure to follow us!

In Any Case with .......... Melinda

and Melissa

Unfortunately I need to replenish the Sympathy cards in my stash, so I chose to CASE the simple and elegant card on page 64 of the Annual Expressions catalog. What do I mean by CASE? Copy and Share EVERYTHING!

Want to see this pretty card in the catalog but you don't have a copy of our new catalog? You will receive one free with your first order placed on my website or you can see it here online, or let me know you want one and I will be happy to drop one in the mail to you.

Here is my CASE'd card..

The first thing I needed to do was to cut a 5" x 7" card base out of White Daisy cardstock (1385). To do that, I cut a piece of 7" x 10" of White Daisy cardstock and then score the long end at 5".

Then I cut a 5" x 7" piece of the patterned paper with the Thistle crosses from the Whimsy Fundamentals Paper Pack (Z3350) and adhered it to the front of my card base.

Here is a diagram of the card that you can use to make your card.

Products used are Gold Shimmer Trim (Z1985), Enchantment Fundamentals Paper Pack (Z3352), Pebble Cardstock (X5955), Eggplant Cardstock (X5956), Eggplant Ink Stamp Pad (Z2847), Fern Ink Stamp Pad (Z2850), VersaMark Ink Pad (Z891), Gold Pearls (Z3371), Ranger Princess Gold Embossing Powder (Z2066), and the Heartfelt Thoughts Stamp Set (C1661) pictured below.

I heat embossed one of the sentiments on the card below the stamped panel. I love, love, love the Ranger Princess Gold Embossing Powder. It embosses so smoothly and even if you aren't good at embossing, you can emboss with this powder and get a beautiful result.

So, here are a few tips for stamping the panel for this card.

Tip 1:

Cut the "Thinking of You" sentiment into two pieces. Sure, you can mask the stamp, but why not make it easy on yourself and just cut it. You can still use it as if it wasn't cut, so you aren't hurting anything by cutting it.

Tip 2: Arrange the stamps on your Versamat (Z1279) (the most wonderful stamping pad invented) as shown above. Then, remove the wreath and pick up the rest of the stamps on one block. The ribbon and the sentiment are all stamped in Eggplant Ink so why not stamp it all at once?

Tip 3: Place the wreath on a different block and you will stamp it with Fern Ink after the ribbon and sentiment are stamped as pictured below.

Be sure and use Thin 3 D Foam Tape (Z2060) to pop up the stamped panel and add some dimension to the card.

Now please head on over to my Partner in CASEing, Melissa Robinson, and check out how to make her cute little cards. I know I am going to head over there!

Tune in again, on May 10th, for the next episode and be sure to CASE one/all of the artwork we highlight and tag it  #ctmhinanycase on social media. We'll come looking for you and you may be a prize winner!
